SANTAGEDDON – A Christmas comedy-horror
All Kung Fu is life and death especially at Christmas
Turtle Canyon Comedy presents comedian Matthew Highton’s, directorial debut, entitled ‘Santageddon’. With an all-star comedy cast of Gemma Whelan, Nick Helm, John Kearns, Bec Hill, Joz Norris, Stuart Laws, Bob Slayer and Matthew himself, this short film sees all the conventions of B Movie horror played for laughs. Santageddon is an extension of the online supernatural sketch show the ‘Thinking Shower’ that has already built a devoted audience.
The film itself will was premiered in the very building it was shot, a flagship derelict Lyons department store turned into a Christmas pop up venue as part of ‘Heroes: Grotto of Comedy’ on the 18th of December.
The plot sees a group of friends who decide to spend Christmas Eve in an old dilapidated department store. However, when one of them wanders off, after being reminded of past Christmas horrors, things start to go awry. Pursued by Christmas nasties and fighting for their lives, will this band of Kung-Fu experts make it through the night?
‘Santageddon’ harks back to the glory days of VHS when edits were rough and continuity was optional. Influenced by low budget horror films such as the Evil Dead and taking acting lessons from cult classics like Samurai Cop it brings together some of the best and freshest names within the UK comedy scene.
